How Grub Control Works in Frisco

  • Your lawn’s grub damage may take many forms, but dead grass is the most common. Grubs primarily eat roots and other underground organic material. As a result, they will cut off the main source of nutrients and water for your grass, causing it to die.

  • Grubs are just larval forms of beetles, like June bugs, masked chafer beetles, and even Japanese Beetles. Some of these are invasive species with no natural predators. Beetles usually emerge from the ground between May and July, though this can vary depending on your location and weather conditions.

  • If you suspect a section of your lawn has grubs, try lifting that grass section. With extensive grub infestations, you can easily roll that section of grass like a rolled-up carpet. When you do this, you will likely be able to spot a few grubs in the soil.

  • In late summer and fall, skunks and raccoons damage lawns by searching for earthworms, soil-dwelling insects, and insect larvae like white grubs. They dig up lawns, leaving large patches of loose turf, eat the grubs, worms, or other insects, and leave behind a torn-up mess.

They always let me know what they were doing with each application and what I should and shouldn’t do for the next week (e.g. don’t mow the lawn for 2 days, etc.) Any time I have called with a question, I received an immediate response.

Why Choose Lawn Pride of Frisco & SW McKinney

Our team holds the proper pest control license from the Texas Department of Agriculture to legally apply grub control products on residential properties in Frisco, McKinney, Little Elm, Prosper, and Celina. That's not a small thing: misapplied grub treatments can damage turf health, contaminate soil, and fail to reach the correct depth to hit larvae. With 10+ years of lawn care experience in North Texas, we've seen what works on local St. Augustine grass and what doesn't.

Every application is backed by the Neighborly Done Right Promise®. If the job doesn't meet your expectations, we come back. Flat-rate pricing means you'll know the cost before any work starts. Our programs also include lawn fertilization with slow-release liquid nitrogen and Fulvic Acid, weed control, fire ant treatment, fungus control, perimeter pest control, liquid aeration, and tree and shrub care up to the second story. Grub control integrates into your overall lawn care program, so your turf gets consistent, year-round protection.

Frequently Asked Questions About Grub Control in Frisco

Preventing or controlling grubs can be slightly confusing at first unless you are a professionally trained lawn care specialist. While our team is always happy to answer your questions and inspect your yard for grubs, we have provided the answers to a few of the most commonly asked questions about grubs.

  • Brown patches that feel spongy underfoot are the most common sign. If you can pull up sections of turf like loose sod and see white C-shaped larvae in the top two inches of soil, you're dealing with an active infestation. Frisco lawns with St. Augustine grass are especially at risk from May through August, when soil temperatures favor larval feeding near the root zone. Birds and armadillos digging in the turf can also signal grub activity beneath the surface.
