Lawn Pride's PerimEter Pest Program

Protect Your Home from a Pest Invasion

What are, “perimeter pests?” They are exactly that…pests that live around the perimeter of your home. These insects or bugs hang around the outside of your house, and if not taken care of properly, can quickly infest your home and become quite a nuisance. Each spring ants, spiders, earwigs, millipedes, roly-polies, and other pests march from your yard to your home. Lawn Pride’s Perimeter Pest Control treatments are applied around the perimeter of your home to keep creepy crawlers outside where they belong.

Multiple Applications Mean Season-Long Pest Control

Lawn Pride takes a much different approach to how we eliminate and control perimeter pests. By creating a protective barrier around your home’s foundation, our pest control treatments repel insects and bugs, preventing them from infiltrating your home. One pest management application may keep bugs at bay for a while, but multiple applications will solve the problem. Since we target our pest control service to fit your unique needs, your home can be protected from creepy crawlers in no time. For complete control of ants, spiders, millipedes, earwigs, and roly-polies; try our five-treatment Perimeter Pest Program.

Understanding is Half The Battle

Insects like a nice home for the same basic reasons you do. They want food, water, and shelter. If they can find these in your house, they will move in. Bugs commonly found inside homes include ants, spiders, millipedes, earwigs, and pillbugs, house centipedes, and silverfish. Pet owners sometimes must deal with fleas and ticks entering your home as well. Different pests can show up at different times of the year, and some pests are more problematic than others. While it may seem impossible to keep bugs out all the time, here are some easy ways to help protect your home.

Seal Up Cracks & Openings

Tiny cracks are like open invitations for bugs. Inspect your screens, windows, and doors for cracks and holes making sure to seal any you find. Adding new weather stripping around your exterior doors will not only keep out cold drafts but also pesky bugs.

Clean Up the Kitchen

You are not the only one that pursues the kitchen for a late-night snack, bugs do too, and different bugs like different foods, including flour, cereals, baking mixes, crackers, dried pasta, dried fruits, nuts, popcorn, and even spices. Ants go after the sweet stuff. Flour beetles don’t just like flour but a large range of food including cake mixes, dried fruits and nuts, chocolate, and spices. Make sure your food is stored in tightly-sealed containers and purchase small packages that can be used up in a shorter amount of time. Keep your kitchen counters clear of any spilled food or drinks. And don’t forget about your pet’s food; some bugs will eat that as well

Dry Up Damp Areas

Bugs are not only seeking food, but they are also searching for water. Some home-invading pests, such as silverfish and house centipedes, prefer damp places Fix any leaky faucets, drains, or pipes. Make sure your washer and dryer, dishwasher, and air conditioner are all working properly. If you have areas in your house that tend to always be damp, like the basement, run a dehumidifier.

Clean & Sweep Regularly

Good housekeeping always helps keep bugs away. Empty trash cans regularly, and vacuum weekly. Use a drain cleaner to clean your sink and tub drains where drain flies like to live.

Keep the Outside Free of Debris

Wood stacks and piles of yard waste are also good hiding places for bugs that might try to move indoors. Make sure to store firewood stacks as far away from the house as possible and check it for bugs and egg sacks before bringing firewood into your home. Remove weeds and plant debris from landscape beds which can harbor pests and keep plant pruned so they are not crowding around the foundation of your house.

Eliminate the Bugs You Have

To stop a small bug problem from turning into a large bug problem in your home, make sure to address the problem as soon as possible. The old fashion shoe method is great for spiders. However, for bugs like ants, who like to find food and bring it back to the colony to share, bait is more efficient. You do need to be careful using bait in homes with small kids and pets, making sure to keep it out of their reach.

With these simple steps, together with Lawn Pride’s Perimeter Pest Control Program, you’ll finally be able to keep pests out!
